History - committed to the future
In 1851, the firm of Schaar & Niemeyer was founded in Hamburg as a marine supplier. Over the course of time, other Hamburg-based marine suppliers merged in order to improve their market position. In 1993, the globalisation of modern trade required a second base in East Asia – Singapore.
To improve their market position, in 2000, eight marine suppliers merged under the name of the HMS Group, founding HMS Hanseatic Marine Services.
In 2008, the food wholesaler CHEFS CULINAR took over the HMS Group with the goal of creating a yet more effective and efficient organisation. Today, the HMS Group has an impressive range of food and drink on offer, as well as ultra-modern warehouse and logistics facilities.
Today, the HMS Group offers global solutions for supply to any kind of merchant and passenger vessel. Its services encompass the supply of food and canteen items, ship’s stores and the services that accompany them, provision and technical supply management and galley support.
